Vanessa Mitrani

‘‘From a matrix of glass in fusion and metal, Vanessa Mitrani merges with her works. While
still a student her temperament as a battler led her along the roads of Europe, Africa and
Asia. There her insatiable curiosity and drive for excellence led her to encounters and age-long
know-how. Her training in furniture design at ENSAD (Decorative Arts School), under the
wing of Jean Claude Maugirard, her year at ADAC studios and her collaboration with the
glass artist Pedro Veloso were all factors in her evolution. After graduating from ENSAD in
1999 she embarked on a professional career, the following year obtaining the VIA Label and
created her first edition of vases for Ligne Roset. Since then Mitrani has revisited this technique,
amplifying and integrating it into a contemporary context.

One could consider Mitrani as simply a creator, she is equally a producer and business
director. Vanessa Mitrani Creations is a multi-facetted company that began in 2002. It
developed products, furniture design as services, original objects as well as production
line series. Roche Bobois, Salviati, Neiman Marcus, l’Occitane en Provence, Conran shop
have commissioned and distributed her vases worldwide. In 2006 she was invited twice by
the European Gateway Program to participate in their promotion agendas in Japan. In spite
of these prestigious showcases, she still practises her technical skills, mastering all the
creative phases of the manufacturing processes. Abounding with energy in her studio,
Mitrani also collaborates directly with factories in France, Portugal and India several times a
year. Applying the same rigour to her clients orders as she does to her own research with
materials.

From these travel experiences Mitrani maintains the taste for encounters, contrasts and
innovation.’’
