Claude Abeille’s sculptures reveal an exquisite, intriguing and sometimes worrisome portrait of the human condition. He uses the human figure in unconventional ways by investigating abandoned clothing, human footprints and heads without faces among other representations.
His manipulation of bronze and other materials reveals a beauty within the grit of reality. His work is varied in appearance while holding true to personal style and some common themes including: The Flights, The Meetings, The Gemini and the Masks. He delves deep into humanity and always comes out with a stunning piece of art.
A celebrated artist, Claude Abeille graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure of Decorative Arts of Paris 1952 and has gone on to be awarded the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite and the Chevalier des Palmes Academiques prizes in France. He has since become a member of the French Academie des Beaux-Arts.
