Vera Kunodi

Vera Kunodi

Country: Toulouse, France

If we were to demand a biography on Vera Kunodi we could ascertain that she was born in 1951 somewhere in the Balkans, that she moved at age seven and that she never returned to her home town and that she studied enzymology.
She was a research enzymologist for the National Scientific Research Center studying water pollution when she bought her first camera and fell in love with photography. At the age of 30 she left her husband and wonderful job to pursue her passion of photo.
In her own words (as seen by Nazim Hikmet):
"Some people can name different kinds of fish-I can name different faces of speration.
Some people can rhyme the names of the stars off by heart-I know the names of nostalgia
I have lived in garrets and grand hotels
I have known hunger and there exists no food whose taste I do not know.
I have known war.
I have lied to spare some pain, but I have also lied for no good reason.
When I take a picture, I do it in a single shot.
In my workshop I cut steel with a blowtorch and then I create a shower of sparks with a buffing disc.
In a nutshell, my friends, as of today, who knows how long I'll live or what will happen?"
